Here the small sheltered beach, Playa la Clavellina, provides safe bathing for locals and holidaymakers alike. The more modern facility consists of a marina for pleasure craft and room for the ferry services to Lanzarote and Lobos, a small island that is a 15 minute ferry ride from Fuerteventura.
There are many restaurants with a selection of cuisine from around the world, bars and shops to visit.
Sand Dunes.
The town of Corralejo is surrounded by sand dunes and miles of sandy beaches that form a nature reserve. The beaches between Punta de Tivas and the Tres Islas hotels, called Playa del Pozo, Playa del Medano and Playa de Viejo run in to each other and this sandy shore is sometimes called Flag Beach. These beaches are exposed to the wind and this makes an ideal area for water sports.
2km inland there is the Spanish village of Villaverde where you can sample traditional Canarian cuisine and view the colurful and beautiful village.
10km North there is the small fishing village of El Cotillo where you can sample the freshly caught fish, and sunbath on the pale sand and swim in the beautiful lagoons.
During February and March Corralejo hosts Carnival Week, there are many events , shows and parades.
